About the Book

Music Is the Answer shows how intentional music listening can become a practical wellbeing tool – supporting stress recovery, sleep, focus, motivation, emotional regulation, memory and connection.

Blending science, personal story and simple exercises, the book helps readers build playlists and listening rituals that support everyday life.

It is not about being a musician or having perfect taste. It is about learning how to listen with purpose – and discovering how music can help you feel, regulate, recover and reconnect.

  • Learn how music affects the brain, mood and nervous system, and how intentional listening can support stress, sleep, focus, energy and emotional wellbeing. The book explores how playlists, favourite songs and listening rituals can help with motivation, memory, emotional healing, connection and everyday life – helping you build your own soundtrack for wellbeing.

  • Throughout the book, you’ll find guided listening exercises and playlists designed to help you explore music as a wellbeing tool.

Start with a few example playlists, then build your own soundtrack for the moments you need most.

  • The book is the starting point. Guided audio journeys will help you put intentional listening into practice – with short, practical sessions for stress, sleep, focus, energy and emotional reset.

This book is a powerful reminder that music isn’t background noise, it’s one of the most life‑changing tools we have. It fuels resilience, accelerates recovery, and gives us the strength to keep moving when nothing else can.”

Meet the Author

Rob Stephenson is a wellbeing speaker, mental health campaigner, DJ and founder of Wellbeing Foundations. Living with bipolar disorder, music has long played an important role in helping him regulate mood, energy and wellbeing.

Before Long Covid, cycling and exercise were a major part of his mental health toolkit. When illness temporarily took away his ability to exercise, music naturally became an even more important source of recovery, emotional regulation, focus and connection.

Music Is the Answer brings together his lived experience, wellbeing work, DJ practice and passion for the science of music – exploring how intentional listening can support everyday life in practical and meaningful ways.

The book is the starting point for a wider ecosystem of guided audio journeys, live experiences and community activations.

Alongside the book, Rob also delivers MITA-inspired workplace experiences including musical keynotes, MITA Live performances, wellbeing workshops and Workplace Music Design sessions for organisations.
